Hi, Im Samantha
Growing up, discussions around money were always charged with emotion. In my household, financial status was intrinsically linked to one's self-worth. And as a woman, I was subtly, yet firmly, ushered away from these conversations. Despite our family business, I was never initiated into the basics of finance. Instead, I was advised to be grateful, to not pry, and certainly, to not question.
Navigating young adulthood, my financial knowledge was fragmented at best. Concepts like Roth IRAs, high-yield savings, taxes, and budgeting remained foreign to me. This lack of knowledge manifested as insecurity, a feeling I believe many can relate to.
However, my perspective underwent a profound shift when I entered the realm of mental health. As a therapist, I witnessed firsthand the immense power money wields over individuals, especially within the confines of our capitalistic society. The stories of my clients, grappling with financial insecurity, painted a stark picture: financial literacy is a privilege not afforded to all. This was especially pronounced amongst women and people of color.
Driven by a newfound passion, I embarked on a journey of financial self-education. Today, I aim to share these lessons with others, breaking the societal stigmas that shroud money in mystery and misconception. I firmly believe that with the right knowledge, anyone can redefine their relationship with money and harness its power for their benefit.
Join me in this movement, as we challenge norms, empower ourselves, and rewrite the narrative on money.
